What is a Smartphone? |
There are currently 3 main types of smartphones, the Windows Mobile Smartphone (eg. Motorola Q, MPX series, etc), the Symbian Smartphone (Nokia N61, Sony Ericsson P990i, etc) and the PALM smartphone (eg. PALM Treo ) respectively. The term Smartphone is usually used interchangebly with the term 'Windows Mobile Smartphone', as the Windows Mobile Smartphone was arguably the first to launch. However, the advent of the Symbian Smartphone with its different family of models including S40, S60, s60v3, UIQ, UIQv3, S80 and S90 adds more choice into the mix of available Smartphones. Recently, PALM has also created their own smartphones (eg. Palm Treo), so consumers are spoilt for choice. In our stores, Smartphone is used to categorise Windows Mobile Smartphones, and Symbian is used to categorise the latter, and PALM is used to identify PALM software.
