Who Needs a Wii ? Try 3D Lawn Darts | Issue 61

This week I have been glued to Quake Mobile by Pulse Interactive - only available for the Dell Axim x51 and x51v. Luckily for me we have an office x51v.

I was utterly obsessed with the PC version, which was released over ten years ago. My obsession has been renewed! Quake Mobile loads almost instantly - it even has the DOS starting screen. I love the retro feel already!

Everything is the same. You must choose your World and difficulty, then lock and load! The Game runs on Landscape mode giving a widescreen feel, which makes me feel like I am at the cinema watching a Quake film.

The controls are simple to use, combining the touchscreen function of the Dell with the 5-way navigational block. Gamers can swim, jump, strafe - and most importantly - blast monsters at the touch of a button.

Everything is top notch, smooth as silk and good looking. Does it remind you of anyone? Also available are the Quake Expansion packs. Brilliant.

The Result ;

(4 out of 5)

An incredible game let down by poor compatibility list and fiddly controls.
